This is my first recipe I tried. I am not sharing the recipe just like a regular food blog. I will share my experience & confusions as well. Hope you can relate to it.
This recipe is for 2 people. When I tried first time, I saw it on a blog.
- It said take 1 cup soya chunks, but how would I know which cup? I googled some more, it said 250ml cup (as if I know the volume of all the mugs in kitchen). Anyhow, I had 250gm packet, so took half of it.
- Boil some water and soak them for 10-15 mins.
- In the meantime, take 1 big onion and slice it finely. Chop 1 medium sized tomato and 1 green chilly if you want.
Hey if you are a beginner in kitchen, 15 mins are already over. Blog said total time 15-20 mins, but who knew we took 20 mins to chop the onions and chilly. So, I will tell you the recipes in an easy to understand and time saving way.
- Rinse the soya chunks with cold water at least twice, squeeze the water out of them and keep it aside.
- Heat pan with 1/2 serving spoon oil in it(although I was confused with the size of tbsp according to blog), add chopped onions and chilly to it. Fry till onions turn transparent. Don’t burn and overcook.
- Take 1 small capsicum. Chop it and add to the pan. Also add chopped tomato.
Now comes the tricky part again. We add spices to it and we had 4 different size of tablespoons available in kitchen. Which one to choose? Seemed like a big decision of life. 😉 I chose not to use spoons at all at that point of time. Just to let you know, we are already not following that blog anymore. It never defined capsicum. It defined a number of different spices though.
- Add 2 pinches of garam masala, 2 pinches of red chilly powder and salt according to taste.
- Now, add those crying soya chunks to pan which were calling you for over half an hour. 😉
- Mix everything well.
- Now, comes my magic ingredient(of course other than love), Pav Bhaji Masala. Sprinkle half a spoon of Pav bhaji masala and mix well.
- Cover with a lid and let it be cooked for 2-3 minutes.
Everyone else in that house was drawn to it’s aroma. They asked me if I can let them taste when it’s cooked.
- Squeeze 1 lemon and allow that lemon juice to meet your wonder.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Also, you can try with some raw onion(finely chopped) and bhujia on it. I didn’t do it that day but I tried it some other day.
This is how I met her(cooking). I was super excited to eat that. I shared some with other people so that they can taste. And it was appetizing. I already won a lot of hearts that day. After dinner, I packed the leftover in a box for my lunch for next day and placed in refrigerator.
Next day I woke up, already excited for my lunch. Before leaving for office, I opened the fridge to take out my box. It was heartbreaking to open that fridge, what I found was an empty box. Someone ate it in middle of night. 😦
